About LAI

Founded in 2012 in Tetovo, Macedonia

It provides an innovative approach to already much discussed topics in the lights of democracy, good governance and social activism. The alternative LAI offers stems from the international experience of the founding members whose ideas blend the western liberal thought with the traditional local values.

The projects we work on

The projects we work on are driven by two main components: Inter-disciplinarily which brings together different disciplines that enhance each other in explaining an issue and providing a solution for it, and Multi-perceptivity, which forms basis for unbiasedness and transparency.

Focus

We currently focus on three programs: Human Rights & Freedoms, Youth & Social Inclusion and Employability & Entrepreneurship

The organization of the Economics Olympiad by the Liberal Alternative Institute, for me became one of the most special and successful events, not only did our knowledge about the world of economics multiply, but we were also given the opportunity to challenge each other regarding the economic logic that each one finds within themselves.

The organization of the activities by LAI, and especially the Economics Olympiad Competition played an important role in motivating students and cultivating the next generation of economists. The challenging yet rewarding nature of the competition enabled them to apply economic concepts to real-world problems, improving their analytical and critical thinking skills, and provided an opportunity to network with students and professionals in the field of economics. The Economics Olympiad provided a platform for students to showcase their talent and passion for economics. Beyond individual growth, the Economics Olympiad Competition also contributed more broadly by generating innovative ideas for today’s economic issues. Overall, the Economics Olympiad Competition served as an important channel for selecting talent, fostering intellectual curiosity, and advancing understanding of economic challenges.
